Here are some of the recipes we’ve tried- we have found that they are overwhelmingly better and cheaper than most of the products you can buy and my skin certainly has benefited from the replacement of shop-bought chemicals. Please feel free to share any others you have found.
Air Freshener Spray
Mix white distilled vinegar and essential oil ( I like lavender)
Decant into a small fine mist spray bottle.
2 cups of water
1/4 cup vinegar
1/4 teaspoon of teatree oil
1/4 teaspoon of lavender oil.
Mix and put into a spray bottle. Shake the bottle before using.
(I have found that this will remove even the most stubborn rust marks from a sink)
Spray surfaces of kitchen/bathroom etc with a solution of vinegar ( 2 cups of water to 1/4 cup of vinegar)
Sprinkle with baking soda, then rub gently with a wet cloth.
Rinse out the cloth and swipe down the surface with clean water.
Linen Spray For Ironing
Fill a spray bottle with water , then add 10-15 drops of lavender essential oil and shake vigorously before each use.
Fill a large bowl with hot water and a small splash of washing up liquid. Using a small sponge or cloth wash the window down thoroughly. Scrunch up sheets of newspaper and use the dry the window.
Drain / Plug Hole Cleaner
Depending on the size of the drain, sprinkle a generous helping of baking soda into the drain. Pour vinegar over the soda and leave to fizz.
Leave for a few minutes, then pour a kettle full of boiling water down the drain.
Fill a spray bottle with vinegar. Spray liberally onto baths, showers sinks , toilet bowls etc. Leave for a few minutes then wipe and rinse. For extra scrubbing power sprinkle baking soda on to the surface to be cleansed, rub and then rinse.
