Chutney- a strange place to start

Cute Canadian and I discussed the types of Christmas presents we might like to make this year and have decided to have a go at canning.

So proud of our first attempt at homemade chutney (yay !). We spent some of our
Saturday morning chopping and preparing veg ( sadly not from our garden- but I
live in hope). I have been using recipes from ‘How To Feed Your Whole
Family…..’ . This took two attempts, first time we left it to cool overnight
and tried to seal it in Kilner jars, not realising that the contents need to be
hot to secure the vacuum needed. Success at last though, we heated the chutney
until it was really hot and then re-canned it.
